SEBAUH – The Civil Defence Force (APM) Sebauh successfully removed a stinger insect nest from a residential property in Kampung Hilir, Sebauh, on 8 May 2026.
The Sebauh District Operations Control Centre (PKOD) received an emergency call from a member of the public reporting the presence of a large nest in a flower tree located in the complainant’s yard.
The case was categorised as MSS (flower stinger nest) and required immediate intervention to prevent potential harm to residents.
APM officers were dispatched to the site and carried out the destruction of the nest safely. The operation was completed without incident, ensuring that the area was secure and residents were no longer at risk.
Flower stinger nests, often formed by aggressive insects such as wasps or hornets, can pose serious dangers when located near homes.
Their stings can cause painful reactions and, in some cases, severe allergic responses. The presence of multiple nests in residential areas increases the likelihood of accidental encounters, making swift removal essential for community safety.
The Civil Defence Force highlighted its guiding principle of “Ready, Fast & Integrity”, reaffirming its commitment to protecting residents from environmental hazards.
APM Sebauh continues to encourage the public to report similar cases promptly to ensure professional handling and to avoid unnecessary risks.
Authorities reminded residents that emergencies should be reported through the national hotline 999, which covers police, fire, medical, and civil defence services.
For localised assistance, APM Sebauh can be contacted directly via its 24-hour hotlines at 019-2178746 or 086-422634.
This incident underscores the importance of community vigilance and cooperation with emergency services.
By responding quickly to reports from the public, APM strengthens its role as a trusted guardian of safety in Sarawak’s districts.
