KUCHING – The People’s Housing Project (PPR) in Landeh was the focus of a strategic grassroots meeting on 18 May 2026, aimed at improving local living conditions and community welfare.
Batu Kitang State Assemblyman, YB Dato Ir Lo Khere Chiang, personally attended the joint session to engage directly with neighbourhood representatives and address pressing municipal issues.
The meeting brought together members of the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK), the Landeh PPR Community Committee, and the local Surau Committee.
By combining these different leadership pillars, the session ensured a comprehensive overview of the neighbourhood’s daily challenges, ranging from infrastructure maintenance to social welfare needs.
During the dialogue, community leaders presented various neighbourhood concerns to the elected representative.
The primary focus of the discussions centred on enhancing the quality of life for the public housing residents, ensuring that low-income families have access to proper support systems, and maintaining a secure environment within the residential complex.
Dato Ir Lo Khere Chiang emphasised that maintaining continuous dialogue with public housing management committees is crucial for successful urban governance.
The assemblyman reviewed the community’s requests and discussed potential avenues for government assistance, structural upgrades, and financial aid to bolster the welfare of the neighbourhood’s vulnerable groups.
In addition to safety and infrastructure, the representatives discussed ways to strengthen neighbourhood ties and preserve the harmonious social fabric of the area.
The inclusion of the Surau Committee allowed for specific discussions regarding religious and cultural activities that foster a strong sense of togetherness and mutual support among the residents.
The Batu Kitang constituency office frequently uses these localised committee meetings to identify gaps in public services and fast-track grassroots solutions.
By working directly with the JKKK and specialised committees, local authorities can ensure that public funds and community programmes are directed precisely where they are needed most.
The engagement concluded with a mutual commitment to closely monitor the implementation of the agreed-upon community improvements.
Through these ongoing collaborative efforts, the Landeh PPR leadership and their state assemblyman aim to establish a more resilient, safe, and prosperous environment for all households in the development.
