BAU – Police in Bau have detained two men suspected of drug abuse following a targeted operation in Kampung Melayu Bau and Kampung Rumih Bau on 13 May 2026.
The arrests were carried out at approximately 4.50 pm by officers from the Bau District Narcotics Criminal Investigation Division.
The suspects, aged between 33 and 45, were taken into custody after initial urine screenings returned positive results for drug use.
Authorities confirmed that both individuals are being investigated under Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
This provision addresses offences related to drug consumption and prescribes penalties including fines and mandatory rehabilitation programmes.
Bau District Police Chief, Pisupt Mohd Haide bin A. Rahman, emphasised that the Royal Malaysian Police will continue to take firm action against any involvement in drug abuse.
He reiterated that narcotics remain a serious threat to society and that enforcement efforts will be sustained to protect communities across Sarawak.
The police have urged members of the public to assist in combating drug-related offences by sharing information through official hotlines.
