BAU – Police in Bau have arrested two men suspected of drug abuse during an operation at Kampung Serikin on 14 May 2026.
The arrests were carried out at approximately 4.30pm by officers from the Bau District Narcotic Criminal Investigation Division, supported by members of the BPJKK unit from the Bau District Police Headquarters.
The suspects, aged 29 and 34, were taken into custody after initial urine screenings confirmed positive results for drugs.
Authorities stated that both men are being investigated under provisions of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
This legislation outlines penalties for drug-related offences, including fines, imprisonment, and mandatory rehabilitation programmes depending on the severity of the case.
Bau District Police Chief, Pisupt Mohd Haide bin A. Rahman, stressed that the Royal Malaysia Police will continue to take firm action against individuals involved in drug abuse.
He reiterated that narcotics remain a serious threat to society and that enforcement efforts will be sustained to protect communities across Sarawak.
The police have encouraged members of the public to assist in combating drug-related offences by sharing information through official hotlines.
