BAU – A search and rescue operation in Kampung Fairy Bidi, Krokong, Bau, entered its second day on 18 September as police and other agencies continued efforts to locate a 29-year-old man reported missing after visiting his family’s farm.
The missing man has been identified as Clement Chimiet Anak Condos, 29. He reportedly failed to return home after travelling to the family farm, which is located about a 30-minute walk from the village.
The Bau District Police Headquarters, together with other rescue agencies and local residents, is coordinating the ongoing operation. Search teams are covering the village, the farm and surrounding mountainous terrain in an effort to establish the man’s whereabouts.
A total of 58 personnel and volunteers are involved in the second day of the operation. They comprise members of the Royal Malaysia Police, Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia, Malaysia Civil Defence Force and local villagers.
Additional resources have also been deployed as the search expands across the surrounding terrain. A drone unit is being used to survey areas that may be difficult to cover from the ground, while the Fire and Rescue Department’s K9 Unit is assisting search teams in the operation.
The deployment of both aerial and ground-based resources allows search personnel to cover different parts of the area around the village and family farm. Teams are continuing to work across the mountainous surroundings as the operation progresses.
As of the evening of 18 September, Clement had not been located. Authorities said the search would continue until new leads or information become available.
The operation follows an earlier report concerning Clement’s disappearance after he visited the family farm. Police and other agencies have since been working alongside villagers to search areas connected to his reported movements.
Members of the public who may have information about Clement’s whereabouts, movements or any other relevant details have been urged to contact the nearest police station immediately.
Information from residents or others familiar with the area could assist authorities in directing search teams towards locations requiring further checks. Police are continuing to gather information as the operation remains underway.
The latest search effort represents the second day of the SAR operation in the Kampung Fairy Bidi and Krokong area. Authorities have not reported that Clement has been found as of the evening of 18 September.
The public is advised to provide any relevant information directly to the police so it can be assessed and used to support the ongoing investigation and search operation.
