MIRI (June 10) – The body of a 17-year-old girl who went missing last weekend was discovered today near Kampung Loagan Kelilang, Trusan in Lawas. This tragic find comes after a dedicated three-day search and rescue (SAR) operation.

Missing Since May 31

The victim, from Kampung Banganga, Trusan in Lawas, was first reported missing on June 8. However, according to the Lawas Fire and Rescue Station, the initial report to the Lawas police station stated that she had been missing since May 31.

Search and Rescue Efforts

A SAR operation was promptly launched on June 8. Two search teams, consisting of 22 personnel, were dispatched to cover two locations within a 5km radius of Kampung Loagan Kelilang. Despite their efforts, the first two days of the search yielded no results.

Final Day of the Search

The SAR operation continued today at 6:30 am. Tragically, around 1:17 pm, the team discovered the body of the missing girl. She was declared dead at the scene and subsequently transported to Lawas Hospital for a post-mortem examination.
