Chinese Community Leaders Visit Kuching District Police Chief to Strengthen Crime Prevention

KUCHING – Kuching District Police Chief, YDH ACP Alexson Naga Chabu, today received a courtesy visit from a group of Chinese community leaders at his office. The meeting aimed to enhance cooperation between the police and the Chinese community in efforts to strengthen crime prevention.

During the discussion, both sides shared ideas and proposals to increase public awareness on scams and illegal gambling, which have become pressing concerns in recent times. The leaders also raised the importance of educating the public on the responsible use of artificial intelligence (AI) to prevent potential misuse within the community.

ACP Alexson welcomed the proactive approach shown by the community leaders and stressed that close cooperation between the police and the public is vital in reducing crime rates. “Community cooperation, such as through the Rukun Tetangga (KRT) programme, plays a big role in ensuring that our neighbourhoods remain safe,” he said.

The meeting also touched on the importance of timely information sharing between residents and the police to quickly address suspicious activities. The Chinese community leaders expressed their commitment to working closely with the authorities, including organising awareness campaigns, distributing safety pamphlets, and hosting talks on crime prevention.

Also present at the meeting were YDH Supt. Merbin Ak Lisa, Deputy Kuching District Police Chief; DSP Zamry Bin Alli (KBPD); DSP Mohd Hafizi Bin Ishak (KBSJD); DSP Jo Ak Hang (KBPJKKD); ASP Simon Anak Renang, KPB Sekama; Insp. Awang Ramzi Bin Awang Junaidi, KPB Sungai Maong; and Acting SI Richard Anak Sanut, KPB Tabuan Jaya.

This courtesy visit marks another step towards fostering a stronger relationship between law enforcement and local communities in Kuching, paving the way for a safer and more informed society. – Polis Daerah Kuching
