DALAT – A total of RM1.129 million in Rural Transformation Project (MRP) allocations has been distributed to 52 recipients in Dalat under the third phase of the Dalat assembly constituency’s 2026 allocation.
The RM1,129,460 funding is intended to support a range of community initiatives and address local needs across the constituency.
Sarawak Minister of Women, Children and Community Wellbeing Dato Sri Fatimah Abdullah said development should be accompanied by efforts to strengthen unity, care and mutual support within the community.
She said the theme of this year’s Maulidur Rasul celebration, “Ummah Maju Makmur”, carries a wider meaning than physical and economic progress alone.
According to Fatimah, a prosperous and developed community also depends on strong relationships, family values and the willingness of residents to support one another.
“The formation of a developed and prosperous ummah starts from good family institutions, a united community and a community that supports each other regardless of background,” she said.
She was speaking at the Dalat District-level Maulidur Rasul Celebration for 1448H/2026M at the Dalat Welfare Complex on Tuesday.
Fatimah said the values associated with togetherness should be reflected in everyday community life, including helping neighbours, assisting those in need, preserving harmony and guiding younger generations towards positive values.
She also said Maulidur Rasul should be viewed as an opportunity for Muslims to reflect on the character and example of Prophet Muhammad, rather than simply marking the anniversary of his birth.
The celebration included a Maulidur Rasul Banner Competition, which was divided into two categories.
An-Nur Kampung Balan Mosque took first place in the category covering mosques, surau and Village Development and Security Committees (JKKK).
The Dalat District Education Office won the category for government, private, non-governmental organisation and school agencies.
Fatimah, who is also the Dalat assemblywoman, called on the community to continue increasing prayers and to draw guidance from the Prophet’s teachings and values in strengthening family and community life.
She said continued efforts were needed to promote unity and community wellbeing so that the benefits of development could reach residents across the constituency without leaving any group behind.
The MRP allocation announced during the event adds a practical development component to the wider message of the celebration, with community-based funding aimed at supporting local initiatives.
Fatimah said community progress should therefore be considered alongside social cohesion, as stronger relationships can help communities respond collectively to local needs and challenges.
The event brought together community and administrative representatives from the area, reflecting the participation of local stakeholders in the district-level celebration.
Also present were Mukah Resident Representative Mohammad Madzihi Mohd Musa, Dalat District Representative Nurul Khairun Nisa Kamaruddin and Mukah Division Temenggong Hendi Suhai.
The programme combined the distribution of rural development assistance with religious and community activities, highlighting both local development needs and the importance of maintaining social ties within the Dalat community.
