The inspection was aimed at ensuring that all arrangements, including logistics, traffic management, security, guest facilities and programme coordination, were in place ahead of the event.

The Deputy Premier was briefed by Datu Adj Prof. Ir. Ts. Gs. Br. PMr QPr Dr Cassidy Morris on the readiness of the ceremony and the measures taken to guarantee smooth proceedings.

The Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak, together with relevant agencies, has pledged to deliver a well-organised event.

Officials emphasised that the ceremony marks a significant milestone in Sarawak’s infrastructure development, reflecting the state government’s commitment to modernising its transport network.

The Batang Lupar 1 Bridge, part of the Sarawak Coastal Road initiative, has already been opened to motorists since 21 May 2026.

The bridge is expected to enhance connectivity between coastal districts, reduce travel times and stimulate socio-economic growth in surrounding communities.

Local residents have welcomed the project, noting its potential to improve access to markets, healthcare and education facilities.

Strategic infrastructure projects such as this bridge are central to Sarawak’s long-term development agenda.

The state government has consistently highlighted the importance of reliable transport links in driving regional progress and supporting economic diversification.

The Coastal Road network, which includes several major bridges, is designed to integrate rural and urban areas more effectively, fostering inclusive growth.

The upcoming ceremony is anticipated to draw significant public attention, not only as a celebration of engineering achievement but also as a symbol of Sarawak’s determination to provide safe and efficient infrastructure for its people.

The bridge is expected to serve as a catalyst for investment opportunities, tourism expansion and improved mobility across the region.

Officials have assured that every detail of the event has been carefully planned, from traffic arrangements to guest facilities, to ensure a memorable and seamless occasion.

The Batang Lupar 1 Bridge Opening Ceremony is set to stand as a landmark moment in Sarawak’s journey towards a stronger and more connected future.
