KUCHING – The annual Program Agihan Bubur Lambuk & Bubur Pedas 2025 at RPR Batu Kawa Fasa 1 was held successfully, bringing together the spirit of gotong-royong and community unity. The event was graced by Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Dr Sim Kui Hian, who praised the efforts of the local Jawatankuasa Kemajuan dan Keselamatan Kampung (JKKK) and the dedicated residents for preserving this meaningful Ramadan tradition.

Gotong-Royong in Full Spirit

As part of the event, volunteers worked tirelessly to prepare 1,000 servings of Bubur Lambuk and Bubur Pedas, using four large gas tanks to cook the beloved traditional porridge. The event was not just about distributing food but also about strengthening community bonds through teamwork, joy, and shared laughter.

Dr Sim highlighted the importance of such traditions, especially as Sarawak continues to develop rapidly. He expressed gratitude to the women and JKKK members of RPR Batu Kawa Fasa 1 for their dedication in keeping this cultural practice alive.

“It’s not just about the porridge; it’s about the love, passion, and pride in making the best Bubur Lambuk and Bubur Pedas to share with everyone,” said Dr Sim.

Preserving Sarawak’s Heritage Amidst Development

With modernization transforming Sarawak, Dr Sim emphasized the need to uphold Sarawakian values and traditions, especially during significant cultural and religious occasions. He encouraged the younger generation to participate in such events to keep the gotong-royong spirit alive.

The Program Agihan Bubur Lambuk & Bubur Pedas continues to be a highlight of the Ramadan season, fostering unity and spreading the blessings of giving. As Sarawak grows, events like these serve as a reminder of the rich traditions and strong community spirit that define the state.
