The campaign covered 15 longhouses, reflecting the authorities’ ongoing commitment to reach rural communities where rabies remains a concern.

By bringing services directly to households, the programme ensures that residents and their pets are protected while raising awareness about responsible ownership.

Over the two-day effort, veterinary officers administered 44 doses of anti-rabies vaccine, including 43 first-time injections and one booster dose. In addition, 32 electronic licences were issued to dog owners, and 44 dogs were successfully microchipped, involving 29 households.

These measures strengthen traceability and accountability, helping to reduce risks associated with rabies transmission.

Officials stressed that such cooperation is vital for sustaining rabies control across Sarawak.

Local residents played a crucial role in the success of the programme, welcoming officers into their homes and supporting the vaccination and licensing process.
