KUCHING – The Public Works Department (JKR) Sarawak hosted the Innovative & Creative Group (KIK) Mini Convention 2026 on 11 March at the Imperial Hotel’s Grand Ballroom, bringing together teams from divisions and branches across the state to showcase projects designed to improve service delivery.
The convention served as a platform to highlight the culture of innovation within JKR Sarawak, encouraging staff to present creative solutions that enhance efficiency, streamline processes, and boost productivity. Each group demonstrated initiatives aimed at strengthening departmental performance and delivering better outcomes for the public.
A panel of experienced officers evaluated the projects, ensuring transparency and professionalism in the judging process. Participants also engaged in question-and-answer sessions with the jury, providing further insights into the impact of their innovations and encouraging knowledge sharing across the organisation.
The All Star group, comprising members from both headquarters and divisional offices, emerged as the overall champion. The White Swan team from JKR Sibu secured second place, while Yellow Bridge from JKR Mukah took third. The E-SHOQ group from the Electrical Branch achieved fourth place.
Consolation prizes were awarded to three teams: 7D from JKR Kapit, Meraki from JKR Bintulu, and SASHIGEN from JKR Samarahan. Their participation reflected the broad commitment across divisions to foster creativity and problem-solving.
The event was officiated by the Deputy Director of JKR Sarawak, who delivered an opening speech before presenting prizes to the winning groups. His remarks emphasised the importance of innovation in supporting organisational excellence and improving the quality of service delivery to the people of Sarawak.
By hosting the convention, JKR Sarawak reaffirmed its dedication to cultivating a workplace culture that values creativity and continuous improvement. The initiative not only recognised the achievements of participating teams but also encouraged the wider adoption of innovative practices across the department.
