The initiative, known as the School Bus Special Ops and Luxury Vehicle Ops, was conducted by the department’s Operations Unit (Alpha Team) through patrols and monitoring across the city.

During the operation, officers inspected 90 vehicles of different categories. The checks revealed several violations, including drivers without valid licences, expired licences, breaches of the Land Public Transport Agency (LPKP) permit conditions, and technical faults in vehicles.

Each offence was dealt with according to existing legal provisions. Among the vehicles seized were a Mercedes-Benz luxury car and a school bus.

Both were found to be operating with expired motor vehicle licences (LML) and without insurance coverage, leading to immediate enforcement action.

JPJ Sarawak emphasised that such operations are part of ongoing efforts to safeguard road users and ensure compliance with traffic laws.

The department reiterated its commitment to intensifying enforcement activities to raise awareness among vehicle owners and drivers about the importance of adhering to regulations.

The School Bus Special Ops was designed to ensure that vehicles transporting children meet safety standards and operate legally.

School buses are subject to strict requirements, including valid permits, insurance coverage, and technical compliance.

Authorities highlighted that lapses in these areas could endanger passengers, particularly schoolchildren.

Meanwhile, the luxury vehicle ops targeted high-end cars, which are often found to be in breach of licensing or insurance requirements.

JPJ noted that compliance among luxury vehicle owners is equally important, as road safety regulations apply to all categories of vehicles.

The enforcement drive also served as a reminder of JPJ’s broader role in maintaining order on the roads.

By addressing both everyday vehicles and premium models, the department aims to demonstrate that no driver or vehicle is exempt from the law.

JPJ Sarawak confirmed that similar operations will continue across the state, with the goal of reducing accidents, improving road discipline, and ensuring that all vehicles meet the necessary legal and technical standards.
