Kaul Mukah 2026 Scheduled for April with Ritual Seraheng Kakan

MUKAH – The celebrated cultural festival Kaul Mukah 2026 has been confirmed to take place from 27 April to 3 May at the Kala Dana Beach Kaul Site, with the traditional Kaul Seraheng Kakan ritual scheduled earlier on 25 April.

The announcement was made during the first meeting of the Kaul Mukah 2026 Main Committee, held at the Sarawak Government Administration Centre in Mukah Division.

The session was chaired by Abdul Yakub Arbi, Balingian State Assemblyman and President of the Mukah Melanau Association (PMM). The meeting focused on appointing organisers and setting the groundwork for the festival’s planning.

Kaul Seraheng Kakan will highlight the original Kaul ritual, a practice deeply rooted in Melanau traditions and customs.

The ritual involves a ceremonial boat procession from Sungai Tellian to Muara Batang Mukah, culminating at Tugek Kala Mukah.

This segment of the festival will be overseen by the Kaul Asal Standing Committee (JKTeKA), chaired by the Penghulu of Kampung Tellian.

Abdul Yakub emphasised that Kaul Mukah continues to serve as a vital cultural platform, preserving Melanau heritage while fostering community unity.

He noted that the inclusion of Seraheng Kakan ensures the festival remains authentic and meaningful to the local community.
