SARATOK – Government services were brought directly to a rural community in Saratok through the ‘Mini Pusat Komuniti Desa’ (PKD) Mobile Programme. The event was hosted at Rumah Entenggi, Krangan, drawing a crowd of over 200 residents.
The initiative gathered ten different government agencies to provide exhibitions and on-the-spot services.
This approach facilitates easier access to crucial government facilities and information for villagers, eliminating the need for long-distance travel.
Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development, Datuk Rubiah Wang, officiated the programme. She stated that the PKD Mobile initiative underscores the government’s commitment to ensuring rural communities have equal access to services as urban populations.
“Through PKD Mobile, rural residents can deal directly with various agencies to obtain important services,” Datuk Rubiah said. She highlighted the government’s dedication to inclusivity and convenience for all Malaysians.
The Deputy Minister also emphasised the importance of accelerating rural economic growth to keep pace with urban development.
She confirmed that several approved projects for Saratok, covering road construction, water supply, and electricity expansion, are scheduled to commence shortly.
The programme also served as a collaborative platform for local leaders and federal agencies to address community needs.
The event was attended by Kalaka Assemblyman Mohamad Duri, Senator Pele Datuk Peter Tinggom, and Saratok District Officer Mohd Dino Amit.
