Lorry Crash at Simpang Kejatau Baru: Driver Trapped and Injured

Lorry Crash at Simpang Kejatau Baru: Driver Trapped and Injured

SIMANGGANG: A 32-year-old lorry driver faced a terrifying moment today when he got trapped inside his vehicle after a serious accident involving two 10-tonne lorries at Simpang Jalan Kejatau Baru, Simanggang. The incident, which happened earlier this morning, left the driver injured in his right leg and required urgent rescue from emergency teams.

The Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (JBPM) Operations Centre (PGO) confirmed receiving an emergency call regarding the accident at around 9.24 am. Following the distress call, a rescue team from Sri Aman Fire and Rescue Station (BBP), consisting of eight firefighters led by Senior Fire Officer 1 Noor Faqriakmal Jamari, rushed to the scene.

Rescuers immediately used specialised rescue tools to free the victim from the wreckage. The process took some time as the team had to carefully cut through the damaged vehicle without worsening the driver’s injury. After successfully removing the victim, the 32-year-old man was handed over to the Malaysian Civil Defence Force (APM) ambulance team. He was then transported to Sri Aman Hospital for further treatment.

The cause of the accident is still under investigation by the relevant authorities. However, this incident serves as a strong reminder for all road users, especially heavy vehicle drivers, to always stay alert and prioritise road safety, particularly at accident-prone areas like Simpang Jalan Kejatau Baru.
