The mission underscores Malaysia’s recognition of Ethiopia as a strategic partner on the African continent. Both nations have pledged to expand cooperation in areas that directly benefit their people, including trade, education, technology, and sustainable development.

In his remarks, Anwar Ibrahim highlighted that the visit is not merely ceremonial but intended to open a new chapter in Malaysia-Ethiopia relations.

“Malaysia sees Ethiopia as a key strategic partner on the African continent and is committed to expanding and deepening cooperation in various fields that directly benefit the people of both countries,” he said.

The Prime Minister added that the mission builds on Ethiopia’s official visit to Malaysia last year, symbolising mutual trust and respect between the two governments.

He expressed confidence that the engagements in Addis Ababa would produce concrete achievements and elevate bilateral ties to a more dynamic and competitive level.

Observers note that Malaysia’s MADANI Diplomacy framework emphasises values of inclusivity, respect, and sustainability, aligning well with Ethiopia’s own aspirations for growth and regional leadership.
