Organised in collaboration with the Sarikei Branch of the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and the Sarikei Driving Academy, this initiative aims to equip rural and low-income communities with valid motorcycle licences. According to Meradong Assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing, registration forms are available at the Meradong DUN Representative Service Centre and must be returned upon completion.

“All payments and fees related to the programme will be directly managed and informed by the Sarikei Driving Academy,” said Datuk Ding during the programme’s implementation meeting at the Meradong District Office on Tuesday.

The initiative focuses on promoting compliance with road safety regulations and ensuring young riders, especially in remote areas, are legally certified to ride motorcycles. This is in line with the broader goals of enhancing road safety and reducing incidents involving unlicensed riders.

To be eligible, applicants must be Malaysian citizens aged 16 and above, in good physical and mental health, and must fall under the categories of students, rural residents, or those receiving government assistance.

A briefing and registration session—including Driver Education Curriculum (KPP) talks and Part I: Written Test—is scheduled for 20 September 2025, conducted by the Sarikei Driving Academy and JPJ Sarikei Branch.

The Official Closing Ceremony will take place on 22 November 2025 at Chen Ling Mei Stadium, SMK Kai Chung, with Datuk Ding officiating the event, marking the culmination of efforts to empower local youth and underserved communities through legal and safe riding practices.
