KUCHING – The Ramadan Bazaar at EMart Matang was enlivened on Sunday, 22 February 2026, with a walkabout session led by YB Dato Fazzrudin Bin Haji Abdul Rahman, Chief Political Secretary to the Premier of Sarawak and State Assemblyman for N6 Tupong.
The event was organised by the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP) in conjunction with the official opening of the bazaar. During the walkabout, Dato Fazzrudin greeted traders and visitors, taking time to observe the business atmosphere and engage directly with the community. His presence underscored continued support for small and medium-sized entrepreneurs, particularly during the festive season when Ramadan bazaars play a vital role in boosting local economic activity.
Ramadan bazaars across Sarawak are recognised as important platforms for traders to showcase their products, offering a wide variety of iftar meals and festive goods. The EMart Matang bazaar is expected to attract large crowds, providing opportunities for traders to increase their income while fostering community spirit.
Officials from MPP highlighted that the bazaar was organised to ensure a safe, structured, and conducive environment for both traders and visitors. The council reaffirmed its commitment to supporting local entrepreneurship and strengthening the community economy through initiatives such as these.
The walkabout session also reflected broader efforts by state leaders to remain connected with grassroots communities. By engaging directly with traders and residents, leaders aim to encourage participation in local economic activities while ensuring that bazaars are well-managed and beneficial to all.
The Ramadan Bazaar at EMart Matang is anticipated to become one of the key festive attractions in Kuching, offering diverse culinary options and a lively atmosphere throughout the holy month.
