One Dead, Two Hurt in Early Morning Crash at Jalan Kampung Bedengan

MUKAH – A tragic accident claimed one life and left two others with minor injuries after a car crashed head-on along Jalan Kampung Bedengan early this morning.

The incident was reported at about 4.48am, when the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Operations Centre (PGO) received an emergency call. A rescue team from the Mukah Fire and Rescue Station (BBP Mukah) was immediately dispatched to the scene.

According to a spokesperson from PGO, there were three victims in the vehicle at the time of the crash. Two of the victims were pulled out by members of the public before rescuers arrived, while another was found trapped inside.

“The victim who was trapped was a passenger seated in the back of the car. He was successfully removed but sadly confirmed dead at the scene by Ministry of Health (MOH) medical officers,” the spokesperson said in a statement today.

The two other victims, who sustained only minor injuries, were taken to a nearby hospital using an MOH ambulance for further treatment. The remains of the deceased were handed over to the police for necessary action.

Investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the accident, including whether speed, road conditions, or other factors played a role in the crash. Authorities have urged motorists to be extra careful when travelling during the early morning hours when visibility is low and fatigue is common.

This accident has once again highlighted the importance of safe driving and community awareness, especially in rural roads that are often dimly lit and narrow. Police are expected to release further updates once their investigations are complete.
