New Pakan Administrative Complex to Enhance Government Service Delivery

PAKAN – Plans for a new Pakan District Office building, along with staff quarters, were announced as part of a broader push to strengthen administrative efficiency and improve public service delivery in the district.

The proposal was outlined during a working visit by Mohamad Abu Bakar Marzuki, Sarawak State Secretary, to the Pakan District Office on Friday. The visit was organised by the Sarikei Division Resident’s Office.

He was welcomed by William Mawan Ikom, advisor to the Sarawak Premier’s Office and Pakan assemblyman, and Sarikei Division Resident Datu Michael Ronnie Langgong.

Officials said the existing facilities face space constraints and no longer meet current operational needs. The proposed complex will offer a more organised and comfortable setting, allowing administrative work to run more smoothly while responding to the needs of residents.

The project also includes staff quarters to improve the welfare of civil servants posted in rural areas. Proper housing supports stability and helps officers carry out their duties more effectively.

Before heading to Meradong District, Mohamad Abu Bakar inspected the proposed site to better understand the development plan. His visit signalled the government’s focus on ensuring projects are carefully planned and aligned with local requirements.

The initiative forms part of Sarawak’s wider effort to strengthen rural administrative systems and promote balanced development. By investing in modern facilities, the state aims to raise service standards and ensure rural communities receive the same level of support as urban centres.
