KUCHING – The Sarawak contingent of the Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM) took part in the Parade and Rally Ceremony marking the 80th birthday of the Governor of Sarawak at Padang Merdeka, Kuching, on 10 October 2026.
The ceremony was attended by Bukit Aman PDRM Management Director CP Datuk Mohamad Zainal bin Haji Abdullah and Sarawak Acting Commissioner of Police DCP Saifullizan bin Ishak.
The Sarawak PDRM contingent joined 107 contingents participating in the event, which formed part of the celebrations for the 80th birthday of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar.
The ceremony brought together representatives from various organisations and public institutions to mark the occasion at Padang Merdeka. The participation of the police contingent placed the force among the groups taking part in the state-level celebration.
Among the other attendees were Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg, and Deputy Prime Minister II Datuk Amar Haji Fadillah bin Haji Yusof.
Also present was PERKEP Management Department chairperson Datin Dr Nitce Isa Medina binti Machmudi Isa, alongside other dignitaries.
The attendance of the senior police officers highlighted PDRM’s representation at the ceremony, which honoured the Governor’s milestone birthday. Their presence also accompanied the participation of the Sarawak police contingent in the parade and rally.
According to the announcement, the event reflected the police department’s commitment to its role within the public service, including upholding discipline, integrity and patriotism.
The ceremony also provided an occasion for PDRM to demonstrate its respect for the institution of the Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak through its participation in the state celebration.
The 80th birthday event was held at Padang Merdeka, a venue for the parade and rally attended by state leaders, senior officials, representatives of public institutions and participating contingents.
PDRM’s involvement formed part of the wider programme marking the Governor’s birthday, with the Sarawak contingent joining the other groups assembled for the occasion. — Sarawak Daily
