BINTULU – The Pekit Kumang competition, held in conjunction with the Mantar Gawai Dayak Council at the Bintulu District Level, showcased the elegance and cultural pride of the Dayak community on 17 May 2026 at Dinner World, Bintulu.
The event drew enthusiastic participation, with contestants displaying confidence, grace, and a deep connection to their heritage.
The competition highlighted traditional attire, poise, and cultural knowledge, reflecting the richness of Dayak customs and values.
In the official results, Amyder Midey Anak Drake was crowned Kumang Gawai Dayak and also received the Ngepan Pemadu Manah award, recognising her outstanding presentation and cultural representation.
Other notable winners included Clement Children’s Emenlyen, who secured the Lulong and Pengelandik Kumang awards, while Joyce Luna Kut was honoured with the Selinggar Marahari title.
Consolation awards were presented to Maria Makdalena Anak Rhodi, Selena Prada Dandy, Esther Bajik Anak Muli, and Joeyna Anak Jesse, acknowledging their dedication and participation in the competition.
Each contestant contributed to the vibrant celebration of Dayak identity, reinforcing the importance of cultural continuity.
