KOTA SAMARAHAN – The Islamic Welfare Organisation of Malaysia (PERKIM) Kota Samarahan Branch has been encouraged to continue its role as a caring and responsive organisation that listens to the needs of the community, particularly in strengthening da’wah efforts and enhancing welfare programmes.
Deputy Minister of Rural and Regional Development Datuk Rubiah Wang said PERKIM’s responsibilities go beyond providing welfare assistance. She described the organisation as “an eye that sees the needs of the community, an ear that hears the grievances of the people, and a voice that conveys wisdom to build a prosperous and united ummah.”
She noted that PERKIM’s dedication to planning and implementing welfare, da’wah and community development programmes has made a tangible impact on residents, especially within the Kota Samarahan parliamentary constituency.
Rubiah, who is also Chairman of the PERKIM Kota Samarahan Branch, said this when officiating the organisation’s 34th Annual General Meeting (AGM) held at the IADA Hall in Kota Samarahan last Saturday.
She explained that the AGM not only fulfils governance requirements but also serves as an important platform for members to exchange ideas, views and suggestions to ensure PERKIM remains relevant and effective in addressing community needs.
The Deputy Minister also expressed her appreciation to committee members and volunteers for their continued dedication, time and expertise in supporting PERKIM’s mission.
“May all these noble efforts be made easier and blessed by Allah SWT, and may PERKIM continue to move forward together for the well-being of the community and a better future,” she said.
The meeting was attended by Deputy Chairman of PERKIM Kota Samarahan Branch, Saptuyah Jaal, as well as members of the organisation and representatives from the local community, reflecting strong collective support for PERKIM’s ongoing initiatives.
Observers noted that PERKIM’s activities in Kota Samarahan are in line with wider national efforts to strengthen social welfare and community empowerment through faith-based initiatives. By integrating da’wah with welfare programmes, the organisation continues to play an important role in nurturing unity, resilience and prosperity within local communities.
