Roads Closed for Countdown 2025 in Kuching: Plan Your Journey Ahead

KUCHING, Dec 22 – In preparation for the much-anticipated Countdown 2025 event, several key roads in Kuching will be temporarily closed, according to Kuching district police chief ACP Mohd Farhan Lee Abdullah.

In a statement issued today, ACP Farhan announced that road closures will begin at 8am on Dec 31, 2024, and last until 1am on Jan 1, 2025.

The roads affected during this period are:

  • Jalan Main Bazaar (from Jalan Lebuh Wayang)
  • Jalan Gambier (from Jalan Market and Jalan Lebuh Java)

Additionally, more road closures will come into effect on Dec 31 at 4pm, which include:

  • Jalan Lebuh Java (from Jalan Market)
  • Jalan Wawasan exit (from Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg and the traffic light junction)
  • Wisma Pelita exit (heading to Jalan Wayang)
  • Jalan McDougall exit (heading to Jalan Wayang)
  • Traffic light junction at St Mary (from Jalan Tabuan to Jalan Lebuh Wayang)

ACP Farhan advised the public to avoid parking along the affected roads, plan their travel routes in advance, and use alternative roads to minimize traffic congestion.
