BETONG – His Excellency the Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, together with Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Hajah Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, attended the Sa’adah Betong–Spaoh Large Family Day Lunch Ceremony on 13 June 2026.
The event, held at the 3 Serambi Restaurant in Betong, brought together more than 150 relatives and members of the extended Sa’adah family from Betong Division and Spaoh Subdistrict. The gathering was organised to strengthen family ties and foster unity among generations.
The arrival of Tun Pehin Sri and Toh Puan was warmly received by YB Dayang Noorazah Awang Masyor, State Assemblywoman for N.28 Lingga, alongside Deputy Resident of Betong Division, Encik Mohammad Nizam Wang, and the Betong District Officer, Encik Laga Kueh. Members of the governor’s family also joined the occasion.
The ceremony was further enlivened by the presence of Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, accompanied by his wife, Dato Doreen Mayang.
Other dignitaries included Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Department, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, with his wife Datin Hajah Siti Shorgayah Ahmad Zaidin; Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu, with his wife Datin Rosemarie Wong Lu Yi; Member of Parliament for P.204 Betong, Dato Dr. Richard Rapu @ Aman Begri; and Resident of Betong Division, Datu Richard Michael Abunawas, with his wife.
Representatives of the extended Sa’adah family included Encik Wan Zawawi Tuanku Akil and Wan Hamid @ Hashim Tuanku Suut with his wife, Puan Sharifah Ana Tuanku Alek.
Their participation highlighted the strong family bonds that continue to unite members across divisions and subdistricts.
In his remarks, Tun Pehin Sri expressed gratitude for the opportunity to gather with relatives, noting that such occasions strengthen family bonds and reinforce the spirit of brotherhood.
Toh Puan also shared her appreciation for the warm welcome and the chance to celebrate togetherness with extended family members.
The Sa’adah Betong–Spaoh Family Day Lunch Ceremony served as a meaningful platform for reconnecting relatives, celebrating heritage, and nurturing harmony within the community.
The event underscored the importance of family unity in Sarawak’s social fabric, reflecting values of friendship, gratitude and shared responsibility.
