APM Saratok Destroys Fly Stinger Nest at Taman Muhibah

SARATOK – The Civil Defence Force (APM) Saratok successfully removed a fly stinger nest from a residential property in Taman Muhibah on Sunday, 29 March 2026, following an emergency call from concerned residents.

Three APM members were dispatched to the location after the report was received. Upon arrival, the team identified the nest, which was estimated to be the size of a tennis ball, located on the outer roof of the house.

The operation was carried out using insecticide sprays, with strict safety measures observed to protect both the residents and the officers involved. The nest was destroyed without incident, and the area was confirmed safe after the procedure.

Local authorities have reminded residents that nests of stinging insects can pose serious risks, particularly to children, the elderly, and individuals with allergies.

Quick reporting and professional intervention are essential to prevent accidents and ensure community safety.

APM Saratok continues to emphasise the importance of contacting emergency services rather than attempting to remove such nests independently.

Trained personnel are equipped with the necessary tools and protective gear to handle these situations safely.

Incidents involving stinging insects are not uncommon in Sarawak, especially during warmer months when nests are more likely to appear around homes and public spaces.

Health experts warn that stings can cause severe allergic reactions in some individuals, making timely intervention critical.

The Civil Defence Force has assured residents that it remains committed to safeguarding communities and responding promptly to emergency calls.

The public is encouraged to remain vigilant and to report any sightings of dangerous nests or wildlife to the authorities immediately.

This latest operation highlights the importance of community awareness and the role of emergency responders in maintaining safety across Saratok.
