Sarawak Governor Attends 271st Conference of Rulers in Kuala Lumpur

KUALA LUMPUR – Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, Yang di-Pertua Negeri Sarawak, attended the first day of the 271st Conference of Rulers (MRR) at the Conference Hall, Istana Negara, on 11 February 2026.

He arrived at 10.30 am and was warmly received by Datuk Azuan Effendy Zairakithnaini, Datuk Paduka Maharaja Lela Istana Negara, Tan Sri Syed Danial Syed Ahmad, Keeper of the Rulers’ Seal, and other senior Istana Negara officers.

Accompanying Tun Pehin Sri was Datuk Amar Douglas Uggah Embas, Deputy Premier of Sarawak, who also serves as Second Minister of Finance and New Economy and Minister of Infrastructure and Port Development. He represented YAB Premier Sarawak at the session.

The Conference of Rulers, held periodically, provides a platform for Malaysia’s rulers and governors to discuss matters of national importance, including governance, unity, and constitutional affairs.

The 271st session continued this tradition of consensus and cooperation among the country’s highest leaders.

Following the meeting, Tun Pehin Sri expressed appreciation for the smooth and orderly proceedings, noting that discussions were conducted in a spirit of unity and mutual respect.

He highlighted the importance of such gatherings in strengthening national governance and fostering harmony across Malaysia’s diverse states.

The Conference of Rulers remains a cornerstone of Malaysia’s constitutional monarchy, providing guidance on key issues while reinforcing the values of consensus and stability.
