Sarawak Governor and His Wife Join Iftar with Malaysian Armed Forces

KOTA SAMARAHAN – The Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, with his wife, Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd Sanusi, attended an Iftar function hosted by personnel from the Malaysian Army Eastern Field Command (PMTTD) at Wisma Perwira Sri Kenyalang, Muara Tuang Camp.

The event, which was part of the Ramadan celebrations on 5 March, sought to enhance close bonds and establish contact between state leadership and members of the Malaysian Armed Forces.

At the ceremony, Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Utama was greeted by Major General Dato Khairul Anuar bin Abd Aziz from the 1st Division Commander and his wife, Datin Roslina binti Abu Bakar, accompanied by Datin Sharifah Fariah.

Among those present were Sarawak Federal Secretary Dato Ahmad Nazri Mohd Hassan, Sarawak Deputy Commissioner of Police DCP Saifullizan bin Ishak and PMTTD senior officers, and formation commanders, as well as invited guests.

After breaking the fast and performing Maghrib prayers at Surau Khalid Al-Walid, Colonel Zulkifli bin Mustafa, KAGAT MK PMTTD, led the ceremony. After the prayers, the Governor and his entourage were ushered for dinner at Banquet Hall Wisma Perwira Sri Kenyalang.

The event also saw the contributions to six new Muslim converts, comprising military personnel and family members, handed over by Tun Pehin Sri Wan Junaidi and Toh Puan Fauziah.

Such a gesture represents the spirit of Ramadan and the Hari Raya Aidilfitri values of compassion and inclusivity.

The Governor thanked the Malaysian Armed Forces, especially PMTTD personnel, for holding the gathering in his speech.

Such events not only further cement the relationship between state heads and security forces but also represent the values of unity and goodwill that the community is known for embodying in Sarawak, he added.

The Governor prayed for the continued well-being, health, and safety of all personnel of the Malaysian Armed Forces while performing their duties to ensure national peace and prosperity.

The Iftar ceremony demonstrated Sarawak’s leaders’ close working relationship with the armed forces and reminded us of a collaborative and mutually respectful approach through harmony in ensuring security throughout the state.
