Sarawak Premier Honours 214 Civil Servants with Service Medals

BINTULU – A total of 214 civil servants were recognised for their dedication and loyalty to public service during a ceremonial presentation of the Loyal Service Medal, officiated by Sarawak Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri (Dr) Abang Haji Abdul Rahman Zohari bin Tun Datuk Abang Haji Openg on 22 May 2026.

The event, held in Bintulu, brought together recipients from a wide range of state and federal government departments and agencies.

The medals were awarded as a mark of appreciation for years of service and commitment to the people of Sarawak.

Among the agencies represented were the Bintulu Division Resident’s Office, the Sarawak Forest Department, the Sarawak State Health Department, and the Sarawak State Education Department.

The Premier’s arrival at around 3.00 pm was greeted by dignitaries, with the ceremony beginning in a formal manner through the singing of the national anthem, Negaraku, followed by Ibu Pertiwiku.

The Sarawak State Education Department recorded the highest number of recipients, with 73 individuals honoured.

The Bintulu Development Board followed with 48 recipients, while the Sarawak State Health Department saw 38 of its staff recognised.

The distribution of awards across multiple agencies highlighted the broad involvement of civil servants in advancing Sarawak’s development agenda.
