KUCHING – His Excellency the Governor of Sarawak, Tun Pehin Sri Dr. Haji Wan Junaidi bin Tuanku Jaafar, together with Her Excellency Toh Puan Datuk Patinggi Fauziah binti Mohd. Sanusi, attended the Sarawak State Orders, Stars and Medals Conferred Ceremony held this morning at the Dewan Santapan, Sarawak State Legislative Assembly.
The prestigious event, which began at 11.00 am, honoured a total of 227 recipients with various state awards, stars, and medals. The recognition was given as an appreciation for their outstanding services and contributions in different fields for the benefit of the people and the state of Sarawak.
The arrival of TYT Tun Pehin Sri and YABhg. Toh Puan was warmly welcomed by the Speaker of the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly, YB Tan Sri Datuk Amar Haji Mohamad Asfia bin Awang Nassar and his wife, Dato Hajah Fatimah binti Haji Mohd Iskandar. Also in attendance were the Minister of Food Industry, Commodities and Regional Development, YB Dato Sri Dr. Stephen Rundi Utom with his wife, Datin Sri Loretta Sawot, and the Deputy Minister of International Trade, Industry and Investment, YB Datuk Dr. Malcolm Mussen Lamoh with his wife, Datin Dorothy Sylvester Pungga.
Other senior officials present included Sarawak Deputy Secretary to the State Government (Administration), Datu Buckland Bangik, Sarawak State Assembly Secretary, Encik Nur Azhar Bujang, and Sarawak Police Commissioner YDH SAC Dr. Parusuraman Subramaniam. TYT Tun Pehin Sri’s daughter, Sharifah Fariah, was also present.
The ceremony commenced after TYT Tun Pehin Sri granted permission to the Registrar of Degrees, YBhg. Dato Sri Syed Hamzah bin Syed Paie, who declared the start of the conferment.
Among the recipients, Datin Helen Lim Hui Shyan led the list, receiving the Excellent Service Medal (PPC). The Sarawak Star Officer Medal (PBS) was awarded to Tuan Haji Japar bin Mustapha and Dr. Stephen anak William. Other honours included the Kenyalang Star Officer Medal (PBK) to 18 recipients, the Bakti Service Medal (PPB) to 29 recipients, the Sarawak Star Member Medal (ABS) to 38 recipients, the Kenyalang Star Member Medal (ABK) to 34 recipients, the Commendable Service Medal (PPT) to 62 recipients, and the Sarawak Star Herald Medal (BBS) to 43 recipients.
The ceremony was enriched with the recitation of prayers by the State Religious Officer, Ustaz Haji Syed Mohd. Rusydi bin Haji Wan Yusup, before concluding with the singing of the national anthem Negaraku and the state anthem Ibu Pertiwiku.
In his message, TYT Tun Pehin Sri, accompanied by YABhg. Toh Puan, expressed hope that all award recipients would continue serving with dedication, uphold integrity, and set an example for the community. — TYT Sarawak
