Among the key milestones is Sarawak’s acquisition of Bintulu Port, one of Malaysia’s richest ports. This move gives the state greater control over its key assets.

Sarawak also made history by becoming the first state in Malaysia to acquire a 31.25% stake in Affin Bank, allowing financial decisions to be made within Sarawak. The bank’s regional headquarters in Kuching will speed up loan approvals for local businesses, especially SMEs.

Air Borneo Takes Off

Another exciting development is the launch of Air Borneo, a regional airline aimed at strengthening connectivity within Sarawak, Sabah, and nearby regions.

“Air Borneo will be our bridge, just like building a road or a port. Its success will be measured by its economic impact, not just profits,” the Premier said.

“We want to build a complete value chain, with the deep-sea port and the airport supporting our economy and regional trade,” he added.
