SEB Wins Inaugural Pickleball Tournament for GLCs and Agencies 2025

KUCHING – Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) emerged victorious at the Pickleball Tournament between Government-Linked Companies (GLCs) and Government Agencies 2025, securing the championship title along with a RM5,000 cash prize, a trophy and medals.

The Public Works Department (JKR) claimed second place, receiving RM3,000 and medals, while PETROS finished third with RM2,000 and medals.

PUSAKA came in fourth, earning RM1,000 and medals, while Sarawak Water and the Sarawak Public Communications Unit (UKAS) were recognised with consolation awards for their spirited participation.

The inaugural tournament was staged at the MUSCS Pickleball Arena (MPA) in Petra Jaya, drawing teams from several state agencies and GLCs.

The event was jointly organised by the Dinkin’ Ducks Pickleball Club and MUSC Sarawak Pickleball, with support from UKAS and the Kuching Pickleball Association.

The opening ceremony was officiated by UKAS Director Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan, who highlighted the tournament’s role in fostering closer ties between government agencies and corporate entities.

He noted that the competition was designed not only to promote pickleball as a recreational sport but also to encourage teamwork and communication across sectors.

A highlight of the programme was the Dinkin’ Ducks Elite Cup 2025 (VIPs Invitational Pickleball Showdown) in the Men’s Doubles category, which featured prominent figures including Deputy Minister in the Sarawak Premier’s Office, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, Datuk Abdullah Saidol, UKAS Director Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan, and MUSC Sarawak Recreation Club President Datuk Dzulkarnaen Ahmad. Their participation underscored the event’s emphasis on unity and collaboration.

The closing ceremony was presided over by Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, who presented prizes to the winners.

In his remarks, he stressed that such tournaments not only encourage healthy lifestyles but also strengthen relationships between GLCs and government agencies, contributing to a more cohesive and productive community.

The success of the first edition of the tournament reflects the growing popularity of pickleball in Sarawak. With increasing participation from both corporate and government sectors, the sport is fast becoming a platform for engagement, networking, and community building.
