KUCHING – The Sejingkat Bridge construction project has reached 84.86 percent completion, according to the latest review conducted by the Sarawak Public Works Department (JKR).
On 20 April 2026, YBhg. Datu Adj. Prof. Ir. Ts. Gs. Br. PMr. Dr. Cassidy anak Morris, Director of JKR Sarawak, visited the site to assess progress and ensure that construction works are being carried out in line with technical standards, specifications, and the approved schedule.
During the inspection, a detailed briefing was delivered by Ir. Ts. Wang Say Kwang, Kuching Division Engineer, who outlined the current status and latest developments of the project.
The update confirmed that the bridge is advancing steadily towards completion, with physical progress surpassing 84 percent.
Dr. Cassidy emphasised the importance of continuous monitoring and strict adherence to safety protocols throughout the construction process.
He also highlighted the need for close cooperation among contractors, engineers, and stakeholders to ensure the project is completed within the stipulated timeframe.
The Sejingkat Bridge project is regarded as a significant infrastructure development for Kuching, expected to improve connectivity and ease traffic flow once operational.
Beyond transport efficiency, the bridge is anticipated to support socio-economic growth by facilitating smoother movement of goods and people across the region.
Officials noted that the project reflects Sarawak’s broader commitment to enhancing infrastructure as part of its development agenda.
