SELANGAU – Civil defence volunteers in the Selangau district successfully executed a medical evacuation mission after receiving an emergency report from a remote longhouse community.
The operation, which took place on Friday, 31 July 2026, highlights the critical role played by local response teams in areas with limited immediate access to hospital facilities.
The Selangau District Operations Control Centre was alerted by a member of the public regarding a resident at Rh. Lesia in Nanga Sekara, who was suffering from sudden limb weakness.
The caller reported that the individual was unable to move independently and required urgent assistance. Upon receiving the distress signal, the control centre immediately mobilised a duty squad to the location.
Given the geographical challenges often associated with longhouse settlements in rural Sarawak, rapid deployment is essential to ensure patient safety. The APM team arrived at Rh. Lesia and conducted an initial assessment of the patient.
