Sibu Man Charged Over Fatal Cement Lorry Accident

SIBU – A local man has been formally charged at the Sibu Magistrate’s Court in connection with a fatal road accident involving a cement lorry and a motorcycle. The incident occurred at the Tun Ahmad Zaidi Idrus traffic light intersection on 21 April 2026.

The accused, aged 50, faced charges under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.

The charge was read before Magistrate Romario Jonoi, though no plea was recorded during the proceedings.

The court has scheduled the mention of the case for 22 June 2026. In the meantime, the accused was granted bail of RM6,000 with two local sureties. His driving licence has been suspended until the case reaches its conclusion.
