SIBU – A road traffic accident involving a sand-laden lorry and a Toyota Avanza occurred along Jalan Salim Stabau on Thursday, 24 September, prompting a response from the Fire and Rescue Department of Malaysia.
The Bravo Team from the Sibu Jaya Fire and Rescue Station received an emergency call about the crash and dispatched six personnel to the scene. The team was led by Operations Commander PBK II (TBK I) Alexander.
Two people were involved in the accident, according to the incident report. Neither of the occupants was trapped in the vehicles when the fire and rescue team arrived.
The driver of the sand-laden lorry was reported to be safe and did not sustain injuries. The driver of the Toyota Avanza, however, was injured and had already been taken to Sibu Hospital by personnel from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM) before the fire crew reached the scene.
As there were no trapped victims requiring extraction, the fire and rescue personnel did not need to carry out a rescue intervention. Instead, the team monitored the location and checked for any additional hazards associated with the accident.
The crew remained at the scene to assess the situation and ensure conditions were safe and under control. Relevant information about the incident was also gathered before the team concluded its response.
Three KKM personnel assisted during the operation. The health personnel were involved in the emergency response alongside the fire and rescue team.
After confirming that no further operational action was required, the Bravo Team left the scene and returned to the Sibu Jaya Fire and Rescue Station.
The incident involved two different types of vehicles, with a sand-laden lorry and a Toyota Avanza among those affected.
