LIMBANG – The upgrading project at the Limbang Form Six Centre has been completed five days ahead of its contractual deadline, with the site formally handed back following the completion of works.
The project was completed on August 17, 2026, ahead of the scheduled completion date of August 22, according to the Public Works Department of Sarawak (JKR Sarawak).
With a contract value of RM3,913,379, the project was carried out by Baram Development Enterprise over an eight-month period. Work began on December 23, 2025, as part of efforts to improve the condition and facilities of the education centre.
The upgrading programme covered several building blocks and associated facilities at the centre. Among the works carried out were roof replacement, improvements to rainwater drainage systems and upgrades to electrical wiring.
The project also included building finishing works, refurbishment of restrooms, improvements to walkways and landscaping, as well as work on external amenities.
The completed works are expected to provide students and staff at the Limbang Form Six Centre with improved facilities and a more suitable environment for teaching and learning.
A site handover ceremony was held following the completion of the project. The session brought together representatives from the Sarawak State Education Department, JKR Sarawak, the Limbang District Education Office, the school administration and other parties involved in the project.
Bong Boon Kang, Mechanical Engineer with the Infrastructure and Procurement Sector of the Sarawak State Education Department, attended the ceremony as representative of the Sarawak State Education Director.
Also present was Limbang Divisional Engineer Ir Ts Br PMr QPr Louis anak Jonathan Philip, together with Limbang District Education Officer Siti Mariam binti Salleh and SMK Limbang Principal Norfarhana binti Abdullah.
The ceremony was also attended by the Deputy Limbang District Education Officer, Assistant District Education Officers and representatives of the organisations involved in the project.
The early completion marks the conclusion of the scheduled upgrading works at the centre, with the site now returned following the completion of the contracted scope.
The project involved improvements to both internal and external facilities, covering essential building components as well as areas used by students and staff.
The range of works included structural and building-related repairs, utility improvements and upgrades to surrounding facilities.
JKR Sarawak said cooperation between the Sarawak State Education Department, Limbang District Education Office, school administration, contractor and other parties had contributed to the implementation of the project.
The department also expressed its appreciation to the agencies, school authorities, contractor and other stakeholders involved in carrying out the upgrading works.
With the project now completed, the upgraded facilities at the Limbang Form Six Centre are available for continued use by the local education community.
