SIBU JAYA – The Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) has held a kick-off meeting and site handover for Stage 2 of its new office building project at Jalan Sibu Jaya Barat, marking the next phase of a development valued at RM50 million.
The meeting and handover took place on Friday morning, 9 October 2026, and represent a step towards establishing a new administrative centre for the council.
The facility is intended to improve the delivery of services to residents within SRDC’s jurisdiction, including communities in suburban and rural areas.
The overall scheme, valued at RM50 million, is planned to accommodate a range of administrative and public-use facilities.
These include office space, a One Stop Centre, an auditorium, a Council Chamber and meeting rooms, alongside supporting infrastructure and landscaped grounds.
The inclusion of a One Stop Centre is intended to provide a designated point for public-facing council services, while the meeting facilities and Council Chamber will support administrative work and official discussions.
The auditorium will provide additional space for gatherings and activities, subject to the council’s operational arrangements once the building is completed.
The project is particularly relevant to residents across the council’s service area, where access to local authority services is an important part of day-to-day community administration.
A dedicated administrative complex is intended to bring council functions and facilities together in one location, although the specific services and operating arrangements for the new building have not yet been detailed.
Stage 2 has a construction period of 24 months, with completion scheduled for 8 October 2028. The timeline establishes the target date for delivery of the current
