SINGAPORE – In a move to deepen Sarawak’s regional presence and promote local products abroad, Sarawak Deputy Secretary to the Government (Operations), Datu Hii Chang Kee, made an official visit to the Sarawak Trade and Tourism Company Pte Ltd (STATOS) office and gallery in Singapore recently.
The working visit was aimed at enhancing trade, tourism, and cultural linkages between Sarawak and Singapore, and underscores the state’s commitment to strengthening ties with local communities and business stakeholders in the region.
Datu Hii was received by STATOS Chief Executive Officer, Chew Chang Guan, who guided him through the STATOS Gallery, a dedicated exhibition space showcasing the diverse and unique products of Sarawak.
“The gallery features a curated selection of food and beverages, handicrafts, arts, and lifestyle products, all reflecting the cultural richness and economic potential of Sarawak,” said Chew.
Chew added that the gallery not only boosts product visibility in the Singaporean market, but also invites both Sarawakians residing in Singapore and local visitors to experience the state’s heritage and offerings firsthand.
The visit is part of Sarawak’s broader regional strategy to support local enterprises, foster market expansion, and raise awareness through platforms like STATOS.
Also accompanying the delegation was Director of UKAS, Awang Putrayusrie Awang Redzuan.
This initiative aligns with Sarawak’s ongoing efforts to connect with ASEAN markets, promote cultural diplomacy, and build international trade pathways for Sarawak-based businesses.
