MOSCOW – His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Sultan Ibrahim, has received ownership of an Aurus Senat limousine, a gesture described as a symbol of the strong friendship between Malaysia and the Russian Federation.
The Aurus Senat, a luxury vehicle rarely seen outside Russia, is regarded as a prestigious model associated with the country’s highest leadership.
It is the official state car used by President Vladimir Putin during major diplomatic occasions and national events.
The brand is recognised for its blend of advanced technology and high-level safety features, making it one of the most exclusive vehicles in the world.
The handover ceremony of Sultan Ibrahim’s Aurus Senat took place at the Special Garage Museum in Moscow on 10 May.
The museum, which houses more than 50 cars and motorcycles, provided a fitting backdrop for the occasion.
His Majesty was given a detailed briefing on the collections displayed, reflecting the historical and cultural significance of Russia’s automotive heritage.
Sultan Ibrahim’s arrival at the museum was warmly received by senior officials, including Kirill Alekseevich Lysogorsky, First Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation; Belikov AV, Director of the Museum; and Nazarov FL, Chief Executive Officer of NAMI, the organisation behind the Aurus brand. Their presence underscored the importance of the event in highlighting bilateral ties.
The ownership of the Aurus Senat by Malaysia’s monarch is seen as more than a personal honour. It symbolises the enduring relationship between Malaysia and Russia, which has grown steadily over decades.
The gesture reflects mutual respect and shared aspirations to strengthen cooperation across various fields, including trade, culture, and technology.
Observers note that the Aurus Senat is rarely exported internationally, making Sultan Ibrahim’s acquisition particularly significant.
It demonstrates Russia’s recognition of Malaysia as a valued partner and reinforces the diplomatic goodwill between the two nations.
The event follows recent engagements between Sultan Ibrahim and President Putin, where both leaders expressed their commitment to enhancing bilateral relations.
With Malaysia and Russia preparing to celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic ties in 2027, the Aurus Senat stands as a symbolic marker of the friendship and collaboration that continues to deepen.
