Tragic Collision: Two Dead in Perodua Kancil and Trailer Crash on Pan-Borneo

MIRI: A devastating accident on Jalan Pan-Borneo Bukit Song claimed the lives of two individuals last night at approximately 7.28 pm. The victims, identified as Patrick Guya, 48, and Roslind Layun Pad, 61, were traveling in a Perodua Kancil that collided with a trailer lorry.

A spokesperson for the Sarawak Operations Centre confirmed that both victims were pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics from the Ministry of Health Malaysia (KKM).

“Upon arriving at the location, the Lopeng Fire and Rescue Department (BBP) team discovered an accident involving a Perodua Kancil and a trailer,” the spokesperson said.

The fire brigade’s inspection revealed that both victims were trapped inside the mangled car. Using specialised equipment known as a “rescue tool,” the firefighters worked tirelessly to extricate the victims. Despite their swift action, the injuries sustained in the collision proved fatal.

After retrieving the victims, the remains were handed over to the KKM paramedics for further procedures. The fire brigade also conducted a thorough cleanup of the accident site before concluding their operation at 8.30 pm.

The tragic incident serves as a grim reminder of the importance of road safety on highways, particularly on stretches prone to heavy vehicle traffic. Authorities have urged motorists to exercise caution and remain vigilant while driving.

The exact cause of the accident is currently under investigation.
