Two Killed in Tamparuli, Tuaran Road Crashes on First Day of Raya

KOTA KINABALU (April 2) – Two tragic road accidents in Tamparuli and Tuaran claimed two lives on the first day of Hari Raya, turning the festive celebration into a day of sorrow for the affected families.

The first fatal accident occurred in Kampung Minangkop, Tamparuli, at around 7.20am. A Toyota Hilux pickup collided with a trailer truck, causing the pickup to be pinned against an electric pole.

According to a spokesperson from the State Fire and Rescue Department, it took several hours to extricate the 45-year-old victim from the wreckage. Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the scene before his body was handed over to the police for further action.

Later in the evening, another fatal accident occurred at Kampung Nouga, along Jalan Tenghilan in Tuaran. A Perodua Bezza, a Perodua Viva, and a Mitsubishi Triton were involved in a three-vehicle collision at around 5.33pm.

The driver of the Perodua Bezza, a 20-year-old man, lost his life in the crash. Paramedics confirmed his death at the scene, and his body was subsequently handed over to the police.

Fortunately, all 10 occupants of the other two vehicles – consisting of a man, four women, and five boys – escaped unhurt.

Authorities are urging motorists to exercise caution on the roads, especially during the festive season, when traffic volume increases significantly. The police are investigating both incidents to determine the exact causes of the crashes.
