SIBU, 16 April 2025 – A tragic two-motorcycle accident on Jalan Sibu Amber, Sibu Jaya claimed the life of one man and left another injured late last night.
The incident, which occurred at around 9.45pm, involved a Modenas Kriss and a Honda RS150 motorcycle.
Sibu District Police Chief, ACP Zulkipli Suhaili, confirmed in a statement that the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Sibu District Police Headquarters received the report shortly after the crash.

“Initial investigations at the scene revealed that the accident happened when the rider of the Modenas Kriss had stopped at a traffic light,” he said.
“A Honda RS150 motorcycle, which was coming from behind, hit the left side of the stationary motorcycle before skidding and crashing into a roadblock,” he added.
The impact of the crash caused the Honda RS150 rider to suffer serious head injuries. He was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency responders.
Meanwhile, the rider of the Modenas Kriss sustained bodily injuries and was rushed to Sibu Hospital for treatment.
Authorities have since opened an investigation paper, with the case currently being probed under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987, which pertains to causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
Police are urging witnesses or individuals with dashcam footage of the incident to come forward to assist in the investigation.
This unfortunate incident serves as another reminder for all road users, especially motorcyclists, to remain alert and maintain a safe distance, particularly at traffic light junctions.
