KUCHING – The Vui Neng Association marked its 25th anniversary with a Silver Jubilee celebration and the inauguration of its new council and committees on 20 June 2026.
The event, held in Kuching, brought together members, leaders, and guests under the theme “Gathering Vui Neng Kinship From Far & Wide, Celebrating the Silver Jubilee Together”.
The ceremony commemorated the association’s long-standing commitment to preserving the heritage, traditions, and values of the Vui Neng clan.
Over the past quarter century, the organisation has played a vital role in supporting member welfare, promoting Chinese education, and strengthening cultural identity within Sarawak’s diverse society.
The evening also included the installation of the 13th Council (2026–2027), alongside the inauguration of the 11th Youth Section, 8th Women Section, and 2nd Senior Citizen Section Executive Committee.
A Senior Citizen Appreciation Dinner was held in conjunction with the event, recognising the contributions of elder members who have helped sustain the association’s growth and community spirit.
Deputy Premier of Sarawak, Dr Sim Kui Hian, extended his congratulations to the association for reaching this milestone. He praised its dedication not only to cultural preservation but also to fostering unity and solidarity across communities.
“Heartiest congratulations for 25 years of not just the Vui Neng Clan’s member welfare, preservation of Vui Neng culture, heritage and traditions, and contribution to Chinese education and values, but also the spirit of unity and solidarity for Sarawak nation building. Thank you very much for playing your role and doing your part for Sarawak,” he said.
The Deputy Premier’s remarks highlighted the broader significance of clan associations in Sarawak’s social fabric.
Such organisations often serve as bridges between generations, ensuring that cultural practices are passed down while adapting to modern challenges.
Their involvement in education and community development has been recognised as a key element in strengthening Sarawak’s multicultural identity.
The Silver Jubilee celebration also reflected the association’s resilience and adaptability. From its early beginnings, the Vui Neng Association has expanded its activities to include youth and women’s sections, ensuring inclusivity and continuity.
The addition of a senior citizen section further demonstrates its commitment to honouring all age groups within the community.
Guests at the event witnessed performances and speeches that underscored the importance of kinship and collective effort.
The atmosphere was one of pride and gratitude, as members looked back on 25 years of achievements while setting new goals for the future.
The celebration reaffirmed the association’s role in promoting harmony and contributing to Sarawak’s nation-building efforts.
By nurturing cultural values and encouraging active participation across generations, the Vui Neng Association continues to strengthen its place in the state’s vibrant community landscape.
