LIMBANG – The Youth GoBiz @Limbang 2025 programme has become a key platform to empower rural youth entrepreneurs, demonstrating the Sarawak Government’s ongoing commitment to inclusive economic development and youth participation in the state’s New Economy agenda.

The programme, organised by the Ministry of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development (MYSED), was officially launched by Minister Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah at the Limbang Civic Hall on Saturday.

In his speech, Dato Sri Abdul Karim said that initiatives such as Youth GoBiz are crucial in ensuring rural youth are not left behind in Sarawak’s journey towards becoming a high-income and developed state by 2030.

“Youth GoBiz @Limbang 2025 is more than just a programme—it is an ecosystem. It nurtures job creators by providing holistic exposure to training, mentoring, marketing, and entrepreneurship development,” he said.

He highlighted that Sarawak’s New Economy is driven by innovation in key sectors such as agrotechnology, community tourism, digital enterprise, and the creative economy. Youth participation, especially from regions like Limbang, is essential in unlocking the full potential of these sectors.

Limbang’s strategic location bordering Brunei Darussalam, coupled with its rich natural and cultural assets, was identified as ideal for developing a vibrant youth entrepreneurship hub. The Minister encouraged young people to commercialise local products using digital platforms, e-commerce tools, and creative marketing strategies.

To support this, MYSED, alongside agencies such as TEKUN, MINTRED, SME Corp, and INSKEN, provides financial assistance, training, and start-up incubation programmes. These platforms are intended to strengthen youth engagement in small and medium enterprises (SMEs) and promote sustainable business models.

Throughout the event, participants benefited from seminars, product exhibitions, entrepreneurial competitions, and 22 interactive stalls showcasing local goods and services. Government and private sector agencies were also present to offer career guidance, training opportunities, and financing support.

Adding to the festive atmosphere, the programme featured street soccer, karaoke, and tarik kalat competitions, with participation from 14 teams, including entries from Brunei Darussalam—fostering cross-border cooperation and community integration through traditional sports.
