Kilat Boy Earns Wild Card to IBA International Boxing Tournament

Kilat Boy Earns Wild Card to IBA International Boxing Tournament

KUCHING, March 19: Malaysia’s top professional boxer, Daeloniel McDelon Bong, better known as Kilat Boy, has received a wild card entry to compete in the prestigious IBA International Continental Boxing tournament.

The Sarawak-born fighter, who is currently ranked number one in Malaysia and 210th in the world, admitted that he was shocked but grateful for the unexpected opportunity.

“Alhamdulillah, I am very happy with this success. Getting a wild card to the IBA International Continental Boxing is one of my biggest achievements this year,” he told TVS today.

Selection Based on Performance and Ranking

According to Kilat Boy, his selection was based on his ranking, star rating, and boxing style. He revealed that his performances in recent fights, particularly in January and February, played a crucial role in catching the attention of tournament organizers.

In his latest fight last February, he secured a victory over Filipino boxer, Prince Andrew Laurio, at the 2025 Johor International Boxing Championship. This win ultimately led to his wild card qualification for the upcoming international tournament.

“After the victory, I received a message confirming that I was eligible for a wild card. It was a big surprise for me,” he said.

Training Hard for the Big Stage

Despite his excitement, Kilat Boy remains focused on preparing for the tournament. He plans to resume his training camp next week after completing filming for the action-packed movie, ‘Tumbukan Emas’.

“I will increase my persistence in training, add more sparring sessions, and sharpen my game strategy and punching accuracy. God willing, I will improve in all areas to give my best performance,” he said with determination.

As Malaysia’s rising boxing star, Kilat Boy’s participation in the IBA International Continental Boxing tournament is expected to bring national pride and inspire more young Malaysian fighters to chase their dreams on the global stage. – TVS
