Batang Sadong MP and Simunjan Assemblyman Support SMK Sadong Jaya Sports Championship

SADONG JAYA: The 13th Annual Sports Championship of SMK Sadong Jaya, held at the Sadong Jaya Sports Complex, was officiated with the presence of Batang Sadong Member of Parliament Rodiyah Sapiee and Simunjan Assemblyman Awla Dris, who together contributed RM20,000 to support the school’s initiatives.

In her address, Rodiyah Sapiee praised the school and its Parents and Teachers Association (PIBG) for organizing the championship, noting its role in nurturing students’ athletic talents while fostering essential values such as teamwork and discipline.

She highlighted the Sarawak Government’s commitment to education through initiatives like the Sarawak Free Higher Education Scheme (FTES), set to launch in 2026. The scheme will provide free education at state-owned universities in selected fields and an annual allowance of up to RM15,000 for students from low-income families.

To bolster SMK Sadong Jaya’s educational efforts, Rodiyah announced a RM15,000 contribution to the school’s PIBG to fund programs and activities benefiting students and the school community.

Simunjan Assemblyman Awla Dris echoed his support for the four-day tournament, which began on June 23, describing SMK Sadong Jaya as a leading school in the Samarahan region, drawing students from Sebuyau, Gedong, and Simunjan.

He contributed RM5,000 to the PIBG to enhance the school’s sports and co-curricular programs, commending its role in shaping well-rounded students excelling in academics and character development.

The event underscores the commitment of both leaders to advancing education and community development in Batang Sadong, aligning with Sarawak’s broader vision for inclusive growth and talent development.
