SERIAN – A Proton Saga Aeroback car was completely burnt in a fire at Mile 29, Jalan Kuching–Serian this morning. Luckily, no one was hurt in the incident.
Operations Commander PBK I Rosnani Malong said the Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (PGO) received an emergency call at 10.37am about the fire.

A fire truck (FRT) and an Emergency Medical Rescue Service (EMRS) vehicle with eight firemen from the Serian Fire and Rescue Station were sent to the location, which was 16 kilometres away.
He said the team reached the scene at 10.54am and found the car already fully on fire.
“The firemen quickly used hoses and water from their truck to put out the fire,” Rosnani said in a statement.
He added that no one was injured and there were no other cars or buildings affected.
The operation ended at 11.03am after the team made sure everything was safe and the fire would not happen again.
The cause of the fire and the damage cost are still being looked into.
Drivers are reminded to always check their cars regularly to avoid fire accidents like this.
