Sarawak Education Expo 2025 Expands Learning and Career Opportunities

SARlKEI – The Sarawak Education Expo 2025, organised by the Sarawak Foundation in collaboration with the Sarawak State Education Department (JPNS), serves as a key platform to strengthen the state’s education ecosystem and provide students with broader access to learning and career pathways.

Sarawak Deputy Minister of Urban Planning, Land Administration and Environment, Datuk Len Talif Salleh, emphasised that the expo plays a crucial role in guiding students and parents to make informed decisions about education and future employment.

“The younger generation requires support and encouragement to continue their education and prepare for the workforce. The District Education Office’s efforts in organising this expo are highly appropriate to provide guidance, advice, and support to ensure students do not lose direction after completing secondary school,” he said during the opening ceremony at Sarikei Central Hall on Saturday.

Datuk Len, who also serves as Kuala Rajang State Assemblyman, highlighted that large-scale programmes such as the Sarawak Education Expo, SCaT Fair, and Pro-DR provide students with comprehensive exposure to academic and vocational pathways aligned with their interests and industry needs.

In the context of state development, he noted the growing demand for skilled workers in strategic sectors such as hydrogen energy, green technology, space hubs, and aviation. Citing examples from Japan, Korea, and Europe — where up to 80% of the workforce has technical and vocational skills — he urged Sarawak to achieve a similar ratio to remain globally competitive.

He also called on private educational institutions, government agencies, banks, NGOs, PIBKS, and parents to collectively support students in accessing educational and career guidance.

The expo in Sarikei is one of 30 simultaneous events across Sarawak, expected to serve as a catalyst for achieving the state’s Sarawak Maju Makmur 2030 aspirations.

Also, present were Sarikei District Education Officer Lau Ngie Tung and Sarikei Division Deputy Resident Badjuri Bidin.
